AIIMS MBBS exam has 200 questions in total. The subject wise question distribution is given below –

Physics 60
Chemistry 60
Biology 60
General Knowledge 20

1 mark is awarded for every correct answer and 1/3rd mark is deducted for every incorrect answer.

Where AIIMS MBBS exam’s marking gets confusing is the normalization process they use. AIIMS uses a normalization procedure to determine a percentile in correspondence with Cut-offs.

If the percentile of the morning-evening shifts is not equal, the lower percentile will become the cut-off for that category.

For example, If 60% marks equal to a 87 percentile score in Shift 1 and the same 60% equals to 85 percentile in shift 2, then 85 percentile and above in general category will be placed on the merit list.

Similarly cut-offs and percentiles will be determined for all categories.
