The Jammu and Kashmir government made the announcement on June 9th that the Union government has given its approval for setting up of two All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the state.
In response to a question by BJP legislator Rajiv Jasrotia, Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Bhagat said that the state government had received the approval last month.
Mr. Bhagat said that the decision concerning the location of the two AIIMS has been taken by the state government. The two new AIIMS will be established at Awantipora in Kashmir division and Samba in the Jammu division.
Mr. Bhagat further added that an amount of Rs. 4,000 crore has been reserved for the establishment of AIIMS in the state under the Prime Minister’s reconstruction package for the state.

The minister added that since both the projects are set up by the Central Government, the budgetary details will be advised by the Union government
This is great news for the country, as we are way short of the number of medical graduates and hospitals required in this country.
