NEET-1 had been conducted amidst a lot of doubts when the NEET issue was under the consideration of Supreme Court.

Finally, when the issue was resolved, the Supreme Court granted another chance to the NEET-1 candidates to apply for NEET-2. The decision was taken owing to the uncertainties encompassing the exam and in consideration of the candidates who were not able to take NEET-1 exam owing to the uncertainty.

However, the decision was granted subject to the condition that candidates who are desirous of taking the NEET-2 exam will have to surrender their NEET-1 score.

A parent who had written to CBSE claimed that it is true that NEET-2 is for the betterment of the candidates but the candidates will not be able to take their decision until they come across their NEET-1 score. The parent said that we have been requesting the CBSE to release the OMR sheet of NEET-1.

Gandharv Sharma, a candidate who had appeared in NEET-1 said that although he had attempted NEET-1 fairly good, but he is not fairly sure about how much he will score since there were a lot of objections. He further said that he would have arrived at the exact decision if the answer key had been released. He said that there is a possibility that the NEET-2 might be of increased difficulty level and he would be at a losing end if he is not able to score well in NEET-2.

Sangeeta Khanna, a city-based academician, stated that many candidates are in the state of a dilemma since the answer key has not been released. She said that many candidates had not marked the answers in their question paper during the exam and have forgotten the answers actually marked.

It would be fair and just that CBSE displays the answer key of NEET-1 and also uploads the filled OMR sheet of the candidates so that they can view and evaluate them. She further added that since the last date for NEET-2 registrations is June 25, CBSE should release the answer keys without further delay and should also extend the last date for NEET-2 registrations.

Arvind Goyal, a PMT trainer and academician who had also sent mail to the CBSE in May requesting them to display the answer key said that the CBSE should have displayed the answer key of NEET-1 and OMR sheets much earlier. This would have assisted the aspirants in deciding whether to surrender their NEET-1 score for appearing in NEET-2. Candidates are now in a tough spot since they are at the borderline of selection.

Candidates who have to only rely on NEET score for admission are more worried.

Goyal added that the candidates belonging to the States who are filling seats solely on the basis of NEET merit list are in a tough spot since they have to decide whether to surrender their NEET-1 candidature without knowing their score.
