All you need to know about NEET Counselling

The Counselling for NEET 2016 is slated to be conducted in two rounds commencing from 22nd August 2016.

 A Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has been constituted by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to conduct counselling and seat allotment for 15% All India Medical and Dental Quota seats.

This article will cast light on the NEET 2016 Counselling procedure, schedule and eligibility criteria.

NEET 2016 Counselling for 15% All India Quota Seats

The NEET 2016 Counselling will be conducted for allotment of 15% All India Quota Medical and Dental seats in Government Institutions across the country with the exception of Institutions in Andhra Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Telangana.

The NEET 2016 Counsellng will be conducted in the online mode for approximately 3500 MBBS and BDS seats.

The seat allotment will be done on the sole basis of candidates’ rank and performance in the NEET and as per their preference for medical or dental colleges.


Counselling for Participating States & Medical Colleges

The Merit list for each of the participating states will be prepared by the CBSE and forwarded to the State Medical Council of the respective states. The counseling will be either conducted in the online or the offline mode.

A Merit List of the Participating Medical Colleges will be prepared by the exam authority and forwarded to the respective Medical Colleges for the Counselling process.

Procedure of NEET 2016 Counselling Round  

Step I:   Registration, Choice filling & Indicative Seat

Candidates need to first register by entering the requisite information such as the name, NEET 2016 roll number, date of birth and other information in the relevant fields.

 

Step II: Exercising of Choices and Locking

Candidates are required to make the choice for the Medical and Dental Colleges and lock the choices by clicking on the save button. Candidates can interchange their opted choices number of times while exercising choice for colleges. However, Candidates cannot change or unlock the choices once they are locked and saved by the candidates.

 

Step III:  Process of Seat Allotment in NEET 2016 Counselling Round 1

The seat allotment will be done on the basis of the rank obtained and the opted choice for medical and dental colleges.

 

Step IV: NEET 2016 Counselling Round 1 Result Publish

The result will contain the details of the allotted colleges to candidates.

 

Step V:  Reporting at Allotted Medical College after Round 1

Candidates are required to report to the respective allotted colleges as per the schedule to complete the admission formalities.

 

Procedure of NEET 2016 Counselling Round 2

No new registration and choice submission is required in the second round of counseling of NEET 2016.

The second round will only serve as the up-gradation of the choices selected in Round 1.

 Candidates who did not report at Allotted Institute during reporting period of Allotment in Round 1

Became Non-Eligible due to change of category

Candidates who reported at Allotted Institute during 1st Round and submitted consent for 2nd Round up-gradation as Yes

Candidates who have not opted for up-gradation during round-2

Candidates who reported at the Allotted Institute and Withdrawn from Counselling
