The Supreme Court agreed to recall the NEET case afresh today (April 11, 2016).
This recalling of NEET case happened due to the petition filed by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and central ministry, for seeking Supreme Court’s review on the 2013 judgement which scrapped National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET).
It is most likely that NEET will be the only exam for entrance into MBBS and BDS courses in 2017.
National eligibility cum entrance test was conducted in 2013 which was the single test for admissions to all medical and dental courses in India, these courses Included MBBS, BDS and PG courses. The exam was cancelled after 115 petitions were filed against it.
Overall effects of this recall
If NEET exam is sanctioned then most of the other exams will be put to end. No state entrance exams and no deemed or private university exams will be conducted. However, AIIMS will continue conducting a separate exam.

Now let us cast light on the Pros and Cons of the Reincarnation of NEET:
- NEET will help promote merit and curb corruption in medical education. Illegal sale of seats in private medical colleges will stop.
- Standard of medical services will be raised in India. Everybody will have to clear the minimum NEET cut off in order to get a seat, even the people applying for management or NRI quota will have to clear the cut off.
- One Examination means only one shot for admission. If you don’t perform on that particular day, you have to wait a whole year for a second chance.
- Pressure and stress levels will rise.
